a place to start.

A few thoughtful answers become a brief you can actually use. Start rough. Leave room for what you don’t know yet.

01The idea

A name helps you talk about it. You can change it later.

Name the people who will actually use it.

Describe what happens today, including the frustrating part.

Describe the change you want people to experience.

02The first version

Keep the list small. Put each must-have on its own line.

A smaller first version is easier to finish and learn from.

Budget, timing, existing tools, accessibility, or other constraints.

03A useful handoff

List documents, examples, systems, or approved information. Leave out private credentials.

A role is enough. Include who reviews changes after launch.

Write a test you can observe. Include what should happen when something fails.
